Description
JR Stewart worked for the Harmony Co. in the early 1920s before opening his own business in 1925 making fretted instruments. The Stewart Company grew quickly in the second half of the 1920s especially in 1926 with the release of their Le Domino line of instruments. Though this was the most famous and popular, it was not the only line; at the same time as Le Domino they released the June Days and the Hula ranges.
This Banjo Ukulele or “Banjolele” has been upgraded with Gotoh geared tuners and is in great playable shape. Anybody who wants to play these things rather than merely collect them knows that the tension tuners on vintage ukuleles and banjoleles tend to be problematic for the instrument staying in tune. For this reason we have no issue with changing the tuners on these to geared tuners that hold the tuning and bring playability back to these great little instruments. This one looks and plays great!
