This is a very nice and somewhat rare Gibson TG-O tenor guitar circa 1928. Serial number 8944 (may be 89440 with the last digit worn away) It is in good condition for its age and plays and sounds great with a nice woody tone. Features a Mahogany body and Brazilian Rosewood neck and bridge. “the gibson” in silver script lettering on the headstock. Also features the short lived 5 pin bridge which was in production only from 1927 to 1930. The top of the bridge has been replaced with a period correct rosewood duplicate as the original had cracked. The bridge pins may have been replaced sometime in its past because according to Gruhn’s the original pins were black. Also has a cleated back crack and some finish wear to the back of the neck. Has Grover patent “pancake” tuners. Can be tuned in fifths or in DGBE (Chicago tuning). This is a wonderful piece of Gibson history and has been set up here in the shop to be in great playable shape. We have a non original chipboard case for it.
