An important violin of the Klingenthal school founded by Caspar Hopf. The label is written in old German script further identifying this as an early piece. There is a stamped number at the end of the fingerboard signifying that it once had a certificate from Hill of London. There is no current certificate for this instrument. Set up with gut strings, the tone is warm and notes clear. The scroll graft and other early repairs are highest quality. Golden brown varnish, cigarette burn on the upper top bout, adding to it’s life of experiences.
