Labeled “Josef Klotz Mittenwalde 1795” and branded KLOTZ on the back plate under the button. This is a finer example from the Klotz family than the more common trade violins stamped KLOTZ that were made for the American Catalog market. This has a warm red/brown varnish with gold highlights. It is in very good condition. The sound is softer as is typical for these but not unpleasant.
